COCONUT OIL ROCKS!!!!

I am so happy with my hair today, was happy with it yesterday too!!! Why this overwhelming declaration of love you ask? Well fellow locers yesterday I washed my hair and used my coconut oil conditioner that I whipped up last month, yes you read right, I made this conditioner on May 30 kept it in my fridge and yesterday was curious to see if it was still usuable. The conditioner hadn't even changed color! I believe the reason my concotion lasted so long was because of the lemon juice. My mixture was composed of lemon juice that I got from juicing about 2 lemons (if memory serves me right), then I mixed in about a cup of coconut oil, poured in some honey and a splash of almond oil then kept it in a glass jar in the fridge. Now I have used coconut oil before but in store bought products. Since I was more curious about the effects of palm oil, I put my coconut mixture on the back burner. Yesterday I was due for a wash and I wanted yet again to attempt a braid set that would result in cute crinkles when I undid my hair. So I did my deep conditioning using my coconut oil mixture (about 1/2 a cup) smoothed throughout my locs focusing on the ends. The smell was pleasant and unlike the palm oil my hair didn't feel so coated. When I was washing my hair it was also easier to rinse out and I only needed three washes with my diluted castile soap shampoo. My hair felt soft but not greasy, I then spritzed my hair (yes my own recipe, more details on that in a later post) and set it in braids. I was meeting a friend for drinks so I had to do the braids in a way that I would still be cute. I was very pleased with my style, so much so that I wore it to work today! Then because I am impatient I took the braids out after work and....I have the crinkles that I have been lusting for and my hair feels ever, ever so soft and touchable. So if you are looking for a conditioner that leaves your hair soft to the touch without being greasy and no odor ( although I wouldn't have minded a light coconut smell to linger but nothing lingers). I highly recommend coconut oil. I am extremely pleased with the results. I will let the picture speak for themselves.
P.S. Because coconut oil becomes solid in cold temperatures, I simply put the jar in a bowl of hot water and let it sit for about 15min and it was liquid again. The picture is taken of my mixture in its liquid state.
